Borjomi Mineral Water Park

Visit Guide to Borjomi Mineral Water Park

Borjomi mineral park is situated in Borjomi, 120 km away from the nation’s capital Tbilisi. It occupies a narrow, wooded valley and is a lovely place for slow walking and enjoying the beautiful aroma coming from pine cones. This is where the original mineral spring was discovered. Due to the Springwater, the governor’s daughter was cured, that’s why the destination is also known as Yekaterinsky Spring.

Getting There

The easiest way to get to Borjomi is via a marshrutka (minibus). If you’re traveling from Tbilisi, there’s a huge marshrutka station/parking lot in front of Didube Metro Station. Walk around for a little bit until you see a car with a sign on the dashboard that says Borjomi (signs are written in Georgian and English!) and jump in. The journey takes about 2 hours.  You can also reach Borjomi via marshrutka from other cities like Batumi, Poti, Kutaisi, etc.

What to Expect

This natural mineral water park is located inside a forest, and one would have to take a long walk through the woods in order to get there. The walk is very relaxing as you can feel the cool breeze and the sound of the flowing river nearby. You’ll have to cross some bridges and sometimes walk through snow if it is wintertime.

It takes at least an hour to reach the mineral water pool. The pool has healing properties, and it’s refreshing to the body and mind. Warm mineral water flows from taps in a pavilion straight in front of the entrance (you can fill bottles with it). Most of the park’s facilities – cafes, funfair attractions, a cinema, and a cable car which will carry you up to a hilltop Ferris wheel – only operate from late June to early September.
