There is no direct railway connection to the Shangla Pass. Those trying to reach Shangla Pass can use the train to Peshawar station from there on can reach the Shangla Pass via local transport.

History
Shangla Pass is a mountain pass that connects Shangla district to Swat Valley. It is the shortest route between the two districts. It has very panoramic views of Himalaya mountain peaks covered with snow, Hindu Kush glaciers, and forests full of Pine and cedar trees. Shangla Pass receives heavy snow during winter times. Alexander’s army passed through this route in 320 BC.
