Getting There
The Highland Park is conveniently located at the highest point of Baku, and it is easy to get there by public transportation or car. Alternatively, you can have a short walk to the Highland Park from the Old City. Also, a funicular takes you right to the Highland Park from the Baku Boulevard (right opposite to Mugham Center).
What to Expect
From the Highland Park opens a wonderful view to the city, especially in the evening. You can walk around the park to enjoy the view or have a cup of Azerbaijani tea with local sweets in the café right in the centre of the park.
History
The construction of the Highland Park began in 1935 by famous architect Lev Ilyin. During the Soviet times, it was named after Sergey Kirov and his monument was erected in the park. After Azerbaijan re-gaining its independence, the monument was dismantled and the park was renamed as the Highland Park.
