You can get to the State Museum of Fine Arts by public transport, taxi or by car.
What to Expect
A splendid variety of paintings, collections of Kyrgyz embroidery and felt rugs, and rotating exhibitions of local and international artists all make a visit here worthwhile. The museum collection has 18000 paintings, graphics, sculptures, and other decorative artifacts. Just for 20 soms (less than 50 cents), you can enjoy Kyrgyz life images from yurts and mountain villages to the Bishkek downtown during rush hour.
History
The museum tells about the Kyrgyz applied traditional art and Soviet period Russian art.
The museum was founded as the National Art Gallery on January 1, 1935. The collection is based on 72 creation of Russian artists received from the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Completed in 1974, the modern building included both, national art and yurts, Kyrgyz carpets – shyrdaks, as well as national clothes and jewelry.
