What to Expect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

One of the oldest monuments of Khiva, located in the inner city of Ichan-Kale, can be considered the mausoleum of Said Alauddin. Until our time, it has been preserved in a greatly changed and rebuilt form. What originally was the mausoleum of Said Alauddin, as well as the exact date of its construction for us remain only speculations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is only known that Sheikh Said Alauddin himself (a famous Sufi of the Naqshbandi order), according to the tombstone, died in 1303. However, the construction of the mausoleum is associated with Amir Kulal and, therefore, the beginning of the construction is attributed to the second half of the XIV century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Throughout its history, the mausoleum has been rebuilt more than once. For example, in the first half of the 19th century. by order of Allakuli Khan, a square ziarat-khona (the main room for worshipers in the mosque) was added to the western side of the tomb, which changed the entrance to the mausoleum itself. Towards the end of the 19th century, the highly respected Khiva Khan Said Muhammad was buried in the mausoleum. Especially for this, a tombstone was erected, uniting two graves at once.
