By means of buses and cars one can access through the Altit Fort. It will take 2-3 hours from Gilgit city and few minutes driving distance from Ali abad the capital of Hunza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to Expect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A complete experience in Altit would have to include scenery, culture, some history, and of course, a lot of authentic and local Hunza food (traditionally known for its long life properties).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  History<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  The word Altit means this side down<\/em> and the area around the fort is inhabited by Burusho people. The people of Altit are said to belong to the White Huns, although not much research has gone into the matter. There are several theories about their origin but local indigenous origin holds much value among the people. It is also saidthat the present language Burushaski was brought here by the White Huns in 47 A.D but there is no link between Burushaski and any other language of today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
