The museum is located in Ashgabat. You can get there by taxi, bus, or private vehicle.
What to Expect
On the first floor of the main building are the Department of Independence, the Department of the Turkmen Carpet and Temporary Exhibitions.
On the second floor – the department of the history of the Ancient World, Margush, Parthia and two halls of the history of the Middle Ages.
History
The grand opening of the “National Museum of Turkmenistan” took place in 1998.
In 2007 the construction of the Museum of the President of Turkmenistan and the Museum of Ethnography of Turkmenistan began on both sides of the National Museum of Turkmenistan.
In 2013, the name of the National Cultural Center of Turkmenistan was changed, and it became known as the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. By Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, changes were made to the name “Main National Museum of Turkmenistan” and it became known as the “State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan”.
