Visit Guide to Shakhristan Market

Shahristan Ethno-cultural center is a complex of architectural buildings in the central part of the city of Taraz, erected in an oriental style. The complex includes: the regional museum of local lore, the Rukhaniyat center, a handicraft center, a tourism center, an art gallery, an exhibition pavilion and an amphitheater, as well as a tower clock at a height of 39 meters.

Getting There

The center is located in the city of Taraz, on Tole bi Street near the Mart shopping complex.

What to Expect

The archaeological park “Ancient Taraz” is united into a single ensemble with the ethno-cultural center “Shakhristan”. They are connected by Tole Bi Avenue, which stretches for a kilometer. The pedestrian artery is bordered by two-storey residential buildings, the facades of elegant buildings are decorated in Oriental style. A 350-meter canal stretches along the street, the embankment is decorated with fountains and original architectural compositions.

History

The historical and tourist center “Shakhristan” was opened on the day of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Zhambyl region in Taraz on December 25, 2019.
