Visit Guide to Sport and Resort

Those who like to play sports in the clean mountain air in the bosom of nature, far from big cities and the bustle of the city, should visit the Tashkent region. The mild climate allows for most sports almost all year round. For classic winter sports, the region has four well-equipped mountain resorts: Chimgan, Beldersay, Amirsoy and Yangiabad. Their number is growing.

Getting There

All ski resorts are located in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region. The most budget-friendly way to get from Tashkent to the desired place  is to take an electric train or a bus to the city of Gazalkent, then take a taxi. If you prefer a more convenient transportation, then you can take a taxi straight from Tashkent. Prices will still be much lower than European prices. Such taxis depart from Buyuk Ipak Yuli subway station. Moreover, you can order an official taxi from Uz Taxi, My taxi or Yandex taxi mobile apps – their offers are also quite acceptable.

What to Expect

Due to its vast and varied landscapes, the Tashkent region offers numerous opportunities for mountain sports such as extreme skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoning, paragliding, hiking and trekking, although these sports are still new to the country.

Skiing is possible in three resorts of the Tashkent region: Chimgan, Beldersay and Amirsoy. The Chimgan ski complex is located 80 km from Tashkent. From December to March, tourists are greeted by trails of varying difficulty, both for beginners and professionals.

Also on the terrain there are slalom slopes and descents for backcountry lovers. All this splendor is served by a cable car, and there are tug and drag skis.

The ski resort Beldersay opens its season in November and hospitably welcomes fans of outdoor activities until the end of spring. The resort deservedly has the status of an international class, since the local route is three kilometers long. The skiing area, located on the slopes of Mount Kumbel, is conditionally divided into three zones:

  • top;
  • bottom;
  • extreme;

Relatively recently, a new all-season ski complex – Amirsoy was opened in Uzbekistan. After a full-fledged launch, the creators promise travelers the perfect work of modern winter infrastructure. The main difference between the resort is that a ski school is open here, where highly qualified instructors are available for teaching both children and adults.
