History

The reason why this part of the river is called Akcha was the Akchakhan Fortress on the left bank of the present-day Akchakol, and it still exists today. The name of the castle is named after the ancient queen of Khorezmshahs Akchahon. After the river changed its course, the present-day Akchakul Lake was formed and it retained its name.
