The building of the Historical-Cultural-Ethnographic Centre is located close to the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasavi, and was designed by architect Gabit Sadyrbaev. Concept development and creation of the museum exhibition was carried out by a group author work under the Professor Amanzhol Naimanbaev.

Getting There

The opening ceremony of the Historical-Cultural-Ethnographic Centre was held in Turkestan on Independence day. The three-storey building with an area of 4.6 thousand m² houses 8 exhibition halls, a conference hall, an artisans’ workshop, a souvenir shop, and research rooms.

What to Expect

The Historical-Cultural-Ethnographic Centre is a unique place where everyone can learn the history of the Kazakh people. The Centre houses 7 large different rooms where one can find detailed information from the Paleolithic era to the present day.

The first hall is devoted to the history of Turkestan in the early era, the second – spread of the Islam religion, third – Turkestan history during the Genghis Khan and Amir Timur reign, the forth hall is concentrated to Khoja Akhmet Yasavi, fifth – Turkestan the capital of the Kazakh Khanate, sixth -Turkestan in 19-20 centuries, and the seventh hall – Future development of Turkestan.

History

In 2010, on Independence Day, a three-storey building of the Historical-Cultural-Ethnographic Centre with an area of 4,600 square meters was opened. The center houses 8 exhibition halls, a conference hall, an artisans’ workshop, a souvenir shop, and research rooms.
