Getting There
The beautiful meadows of Siri Paye are situated near Kaghan Valley, about 6km away from the picturesque Shogran hill station in Khyber Pakhtun Khwa (KPK), Pakistan. It is at a distance of 34km from Balakot and 212km from the capital city of Pakistan.
By Air: The nearest airport that can be used for air travel Paye Meadows is Islamabad International Airport
By Train: If you want to go to Paye Meadowsby train from any part of the country, there is no train available to go to Paye Meadows. So you can get off at Rawalpindi station or Peshawar station and go Paye Meadows by car, bus and Jeep
By Road: Siri Paye meadows are located 6 km away from Shogran, 10 km away from Kiwai and almost 34 km away from Balakot. Getting there is easy through a 212 km metalled road from the capital city of Islamabad. Once you are in Shogran, a jeep ride, hike or horse ride can take you to the beautiful meadow located at an elevation of 3000 meters or 10,000 feet.
What to Expect
Siri Paye the main tourist attraction of the Shogran. The name Siri Paye means head and legs. The lake point is known as Siri while the Paye top is lush green meadows. Horse Riding is a preferred activity over here as the journey is too steep and tiring from Shogran.
Tourists reach the Siri and Paye top thru the Jeep trek of 6KM from Shogran which is also one of the dangerous roads in Pakistan. There are different myths about the name of Siri and Paye. One myth is that there was a Hindu lady named Siri who fell in love with the Paye who lived at the top. Another traditional story says that a woman’s goat was hunted by a lion whose head remains were found at Siri and legs were found at Paye top, but the place provides mesmerizing views above 3,000 meters (10,000 ft) above sea level.
The thrilling jeep passes all the way through the dense alpine woods with breathtaking and marvelous views that can leave a strong impact on nature.
History
Shogran Siri Paye is famous due to its spectacular beauty of mountains, glaciers, scenic views, beautiful landscape, lush greenery & romantic weather. It is one of the most scenic valleys in Pakistan and feels like heaven on earth. It is famous for its natural beauty, peaceful environment, amazing and beautiful landscape, lovely lakes, and romantic weather.
Shogran Valley is located southeast of Kiwai and south of Paye Meadow. From Kiwai, a 6-kilometer-long road runs uphill to Shogran. You can go up to Shogran in your own car as well. Shogran is a tourist resort with numerous hotels; the track continues to climb up to Siri Lake and ends at Paya. A moderate four to six-hour trek (depending on trekker fitness) from Paya leads to Makra Top. Shogran is a green plateau hill station in the Kaghan Valley, northern Pakistan at a height of 7,749 feet or 2,362 meters above sea level.
Shogran is located at a distance of 34 km away from Balakot. Siri means ‘lake’; it’s a small lake situated before Paye meadows. In winters Siri freezes in such a way that one not can walk over it.
