Visit Guide to Prometheus Cave

Prometheus Cave is located in Tskaltubo municipality, village Kumistavi. There are 22 halls found In total; Six of them are open for tourists. You can walk through the length of 1420 meters in the cave’s territory, visit the halls and enjoy a boat tour.

Getting There

To get to Prometheus Cave, you can take a minibus from the territory near the Didube metro station. The distance From Tbilisi to Prometheus cave is about 258 km.

The cave was discovered by Georgian speleologists in the early 1980s. It is part of an extensive cave system, united by one underground river. About 30 km of the river has been investigated, which is nearly half the length of the entire cave system. In 1985 the conversion of the cave into a tourist destination began. By 1989, a pedestrian route was laid in the cave for about 1 kilometer, and stairs and paths were built.
