Sandspit Beach is a beach located in south west of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

History

Sandspit Beach is also a testing ground for green and olive riley turtles, implemented by the Sindh Wildlife Department over the past two decades. Nesting takes place in early winter months. In recent years the WWF-Pakistan has also become involved in turtle conservation activities by establishing a wetland center at Sandspit Beach.

The name of the Sandspit Beach was derived from the pits where turtles lay their eggs. These pits can be easily seen in winter months. To promote awareness among people regarding the rare species of Green turtle, World Wide Fund has set up a Wetland Center at Sandspit Beach. Varieties of other marine species such as crabs and algae can also be found on this beach. From October to March the sea is very calm at Sandspit but very rough during monsoon season.
