Visit Guide to Vani Archeological Museum

Vani Archaeological Museum is located in the Region of Imereti, Vani Municipality, near the Vani archeological site. The material preserved in the Vani Museum dates back to 800 BCE-100 CE. Unique samples of gold, silver, bronze wares, numismatics, and more are kept here.

Vani Archaeological Museum is located at 32 Otar Lortkipanidze Street in Vani, Imereti Region. The road goes to the museum Vakhtang Gorgasali str., 1900, Vani.

What to Expect

The Vani settlement covers almost the whole first millennium BC is an archaeological monument of world importance.

There are numerous artifacts, dated back to 8th-1st centuries BC, discovered in the Vani settlement and its environs preserved in the museum collections. The museum includes the archaeological site of Vani, the expedition base, and the museum itself. In 2020 the museum was renewed.

History

Vani archaeological museum was founded on September 25, 1985, on the initiative of Academician Otar Lortkipanidze, the head of the Vani Archaeological Expedition, who the museum is named after today.
