Visit Guide to Baku Olympic Stadium

In advance of Baku’s hosting of the inaugural European Games in 2015, a series of world-class sports facilities sprung up in the Azerbaijani capital. The centrepiece is the Baku Olympic Stadium which is the largest stadium in the Caucasus with a capacity of nearly 68,000.

Geting There

The Stadium is located on the outskirts of the city, so getting there is possible by public transportation or private car, or alternatively taking the metro to Koroghlu station and further taking a short taxi drive or a walk to the Stadium.

What to Expect

The stadium with the capacity for 69,000 people is a six-storey, 65.7 meter structure near Boyukshor Lake, next to the park of the same name. The stadium is the biggest in Azerbaijan.

History

Construction of the stadium was completed in 2015 and it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Baku European Games in the same year, being the main venue for the event. Since then, it has hosted many international events, including UEFA Europe League final in 2019 and 4 games of UEFA EURO 2020.
