Getting There

The easiest way to get to the museum is by taxi. Local buses go to Rudaki Park, where a leisurely walk will get you to the museum.

What to Expect

The National Museum of Tajikistan is an opportunity to learn about the country throughout the different eras of its history. One of its most treasured artefacts is a reclining Buddha, more than 20 metres long. There are also collections devoted to geological and other expeditions, including in the Tajik Pamir Mountains. The building is built using elements of Baroque architecture, and is a landmark in Tajikistan in its own right.

History

The museum was officially opened in March 2013 as the centrepiece of Tajikistan’s display of historical culture. It boasts state-of-the-art analytical and restoration facilities, as well as modern display methods including temperature and humidity control for the most fragile and precious artefacts.
