History

The design and construction of the building of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater started before the Great Patriotic War, but was completed only in 1955 by the architects L. Laburenko and P. Ivanova with the participation of the Frunze (now Bishkek) chief architect P.P. Ivanov and engineer P.P. Provorov.

The architecture of the theatre is a real example of the Ancient Greek classical style. The facade is decorated by a huge colonnade. The columns are accomplished with the gorgeously gypsums white bas-reliefs. The chiseled sculptures of muses are raised on the roof.
