Located in the Caucasus Mountains of the Gusar region, this is Azerbaijan’s first (of three) ski resorts that opened in 2012. It offers 17 kilometres of slopes that are a mix of blue and red runs ranging in altitude from 1,435 to 2,525 metres. Accommodation options include several four- and five-star hotels offering spas and restaurants plus non-ski activities such as quad biking, horse riding and paragliding.

Getting There

Located in the Gusar region north from Baku, Shahdag ski resort is easily accessible by inter-city transportation or car. Taxis will also take you from the city of Gusar to Shahdag for a small payment.

What to Expect

For skiing enthusiasts tired of the traditional slopes, Shahdag is a spectacular change of scenery. The luxury resorts at Shahdag have world-class amenities, 14 well-prepared slopes, friendly instructors and diligent staff.

Piste quality is ensured by state-of-the-art snow guns and accessed by a brand new network of world-class cable cars and ski lifts. But even for non-skiers there’s plenty to do: besides rental and repair shops, Shahdag is well equipped with cafes, bars and restaurants; and is open in summer, allowing visitors to soak in the fabulous scenery all year round and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and paragliding.
