Visit Guide to Shirvan National Park

The Shirvan National Park is a vast area of untouched steppe home to the largest population of goitered gazelles anywhere in the world – around 5,000! Another reason to visit is the wealth of birdlife – this is a great place to spot flamingos in winter!

Getting There

Shirvan National Park is located in Shirvan region south from Baku. You may get to Shirvan on a bus from the Baku International Bus Station and then take a taxi to the Park. If on a personal car, make sure to include the visit to Shirvan National Park to your itinerary as you visit the south of Azerbaijan.

What to Expect

The semi-desert national park located just over 100 kilometres southwest of Baku combines wildlife, dunes and a short stretch coastline. Visitors enjoy landscapes and diversity of fauna with its large population of gazelles, jungle cats and turtles. More than 200 species of bird also live inside Shirvan National Park, including 32 rare ones. The reserve`s activity is focused on the protection and reproduction of the Goitered Gazelles.
